“There’s real work to be done here! It’s like a shuttle canal with white water and a weir,” Max shouts. As he turns the water intake wheel, the water starts to run as if by magic. Only not into the gutter. His friend Joseph quickly turns the first channel to catch the water. When he pulls the plug, the water runs from the first into the second gutter. Now Laura has had enough and she puts the plug into the second gutter to hold back the water a little. She now turns the second channel further and lets the water run into the catch basin. “Oh no, there are holes in it” she calls. “The water is running into the basin!” All the children laugh and play on happily. I’m sure there’s a lot more to discover.
